Team Discipleship’s Mission: Small Group Bible Studies
Our vision is:
To: Serve the Lord and the church
By: Starting small group Bible studies, providing verse-by-verse lessons,
And: Using Team Discipleship “Leadertips”
To: Raise up group leaders
Who: Lead small group Bible studies.
Our heavenly Father speaks to believers through His Word. Team Discipleship’s small groups help believers to learn the Scriptures and have our Lord Jesus Christ speak to them through His Word. In small groups, the body life of the church is practiced. Not only do the groups study and learn God’s word. They share one another’s burdens.
By his grace, our Lord has given us success in all the group models. The one page lesson is free except for the Life Application Bible, which can be purchased from CBD (1-800-247-4784) or other online bookstores; and the homework is not overwhelming. Since Team Discipleship is a non-profit organization, we have no financial gain in your participation. Our gain is in knowing that we have given our brothers and sisters in the Lord an opportunity to search the Scriptures and to love our Lord Jesus more and more. That gives us tremendous satisfaction.
If you have a question or need help to start a Team Discipleship group, please text us at (985) 264-4232. Your contacting us gives us an opportunity to pray for you and share in your blessings.
Jim Simpson
Founder & Author
Jim Simpson is the founder and author of Team Discipleship. Jim grew up in Houston, Mississippi, and is a graduate of Mississippi State University and a retired sod farmer. He became a Christian at the age of thirty after reading the book “God Owns My Business” by Stanley Tam. He became grounded in his faith through the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ (now known as Cru) and the late Rudy Adkins, who was teaching home Bible studies in the area. The couple’s bridge group that he and his wife were a part of at that time soon became a couple’s small group Bible study. After being involved in various ministries over the years, Jim discovered in his early sixties that he had a God-given gift and passion for writing Bible studies for small groups. Along with his gift of evangelism, and the leadership and encouragement of his pastor, Hunter Gray, small group Bible studies are flourishing.
Team Discipleship small group studies are unique in that they are verse by verse studies using the Life Application Study Bible. They provide accountability and opportunity for spiritual growth and maturity. It is a program than can help produce church leaders. Jim supports his studies with authors such as Martyn Lloyd-Jones, William L. Lane, J. M. Boice, F. F. Bruce, John MacArthur, Wayne Grudem, and D. J. Moo.
Jim’s wife Bettye serves as Team Discipleship’s editor and coordinator with the website. Jim and Bettye are members of New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Mandeville, LA. They have two sons, ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
