A New Direction

Team Discipleship’s original mission was to disciple men to disciple men, but the Lord has expanded its horizon by using an out of town guest to set Team Discipleship in a new direction. It happened innocently enough in a men’s group when one of the guys wanted to invite his mother, who was visiting from out of town and another guy also wanted his girlfriend to come. The girlfriend later stated that she learned more in an hour and a half than she had learned from all of her years of being in church. Later the mother became her mother-in-law and they continued in the group. (See Amy’s Story below.) Team Discipleship became inclusive by embarking on a new mission of small group Bible studies.

Amy’s Story

“My story is one of God’s design alone, not by chance at all. The Holy Spirit had been working in me for a very long time; urging me to find something more in the Lord, in church, in my faith. I was raised in a church and have been a very faithful attendee my entire life, but something was missing. Not having the Bible in my life, I was ignorant as to how to hear what the Lord was trying to say to me. “By chance” I was invited to tag along to a men’s bible study one evening. That night I learned more about Jesus Christ, His saving grace, and the truth of the Word than I ever fathomed. I had no idea what was missing from my life until that moment. Over the next few months, that men’s group grew into a couples’ study. The word came alive to me in a way I didn’t know was possible. I learned how to have a real relationship with the Lord and the extreme importance of this. My whole world changed with that small group and, by the grace of God, I was saved.”
